to jgnat: First of all, the individuals must qualify according to Scriptural standards. Since I don't qualify myself, I can't judged their status. It's a few grades ahead of where I'm at, so to speak.
Regarding W.H. Conley, I find the following information on page 576, in the book Jehovah's Witnesses — Proclaimers of God's Kingdom, published by Jehovah's Witnesses, ©1993: The following year [1880] the first of an extensive series of tracts designed to interest people in Bible truths was prepared for publication. This work quickly took on immense proportions. In order to handle it, Zions' Watch Tower Tract Society was formed on February 16, 1881, with W. H. Conley as president and C. T. Russell as secretary and treasurer. Arrangements were made for printing to be done by commercial firms in various cities of Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio, as well as in Britain. In 1884, Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society was legally incorporated, with C. T. Russell as president, and its charter showed that it was more than a society that would direct publishing. Its real objective was religious; it was chartered for "the dissemination of Bible Truths in various languages."

It's an internal process that I've never been a part of. It's like how Cabinet portfolios are handed out. It's not my department. There are oaths of secrecy as well, which I wouldn't be privy to divulge, even if I did know.

I'm a Liar
by Perry inso, i'm downtown quite early the other morning while still dark and i see a man holding an awake.
so, i pull over and wave him over.
after a few words of cordiality, i ask him why jehovah's witnesses teach that jesus returned invisibly in 1914 when jesus himself said this:in matthew 24:.

Those "Christian Therapists" prbably don't view Jehovah's Witnesses the way I do. I don't need more of a fight on my hands than I've already got.

At this point the elders (in the Congregation I'm still assigned to) have directed me not to speak with any elders (who are not part of the JC handling my current case) with respect to details of the case. I am not permitted to be isolated in a room with a female who is not directly related to me, because of the details of the case. I don't feel miserable and messed up, actually. I feel that I'm well on my way to being completely healed spiritually. My moods are much more consistent and upbeat. I am able to look beyond the surface and feel the healthy love and security I've always craved. It's not a matter of luck. It's a matter of accepting the training I receive and applying it within my circumstances. Mostly, I now know what principles are all about; they're general ideas, not details.

It's spiritual help that I require. I'm only interested in living by the Bible's standards, which "professional psychologists" are not trained/qualified to deal with. Only "professional Chistians" are capable of the challenge, under the direction/qualification of holy spirit.

to jgnat: This is refuted in the day's text and comments for 24 March 2007, which quotes Matt.24:45, with the following commentary: "One of the means Jesus uses to lead us today is the holy spirit, which Jehovah God has authorized his Son to employ. (Matt.28:18) Today's text points to another means by which Christ leads the congregation. The "master" is Jesus Christ. The "slave" is the group of anointed Christians on earth. This slave class is entrusted with caring for Jesus' earthly interests and with providing timely spiritual food. A small group of qualified overseers from among the composite "faithful and discreet slave" form the Governing Body. They direct the worldwide Kingdom-preaching work and the supplying of spiritual nourishment at the right time. Christ thus leads the congregation by means of the spirit-anointed "faithful and discreet slave" and its Governing Body. [taken from the Watchtower of 15 Sep 2005, 2nd study article, paragraphs 7-9]."

"Trinitarians" how can you "lie" to the truth? Is truth a person?
by booker-t ini was talking to this jw's elder who i believe has to be the best debater against the "trinity" doctrine that jw's have he brought up several point which i feel needs to be addressed by trinitarians.
first of all he argured that acts 5:3-4 about lying to the holy spirit in no way makes the holy spirit a person any more that "lying to the truth" in james makes "truth" a person.
i have never seen that verse before about lying to the truth.

AuldSoul: There is no such humility among the modern day Governing Body. They boldly dictate on many small things that go well beyond the light burden established in the 1st Century and they make no pretense that they have received their direction from holy spirit in these tittles of (relatively speaking) mint and dill. They gulp camels while straining gnats. They make grand claims of insight and simultaneously claim to have no special insights. Both cannot be true, yet they speak both as though each is true.
And you believe them to be "properly constituted", although there are many more similarities between their structure and the structure of Judaism under the Pharisees than there are between their structure and the 1st Century Christian structure.
Tsk.
That's a big brush you're using there with regards to claims about humility and pretense and grand claims and similarities. I've heard several of the GB give talks and prayers and there they were very humble throughout. Jesus and his apostles were very bold. The Christian Greek Scriptures are replete with counsel not found in the Tanakh, because of the influence of non-Jewish thought and culture. How much moreso do we need the fine-tuning, what with the subtle demonic influences which are even more pervasive than in the 1st century CE, especially with the TV and Internet and printed material available wherever we go.

Is practicing Capoeira wrong/bad/discouraged by Jehovah's Witnesses?
by aikichristian inmy girlfriend used to be an avid capoeira practicioner for over year.
she has reaped many benefits from it: increased physical fitness, flexibility, some self-defense skills, and stress-relief.
she enjoyed it.. unfortunately, an article came out in the spanish version of the "watchtower" ("atalaya" in spanish) essentially saying that capoeira should not be practiced because it has some spirituality stuff in it that was wrong.

Capoeira doesn't affect me. I don't practice it, nor do I see it practiced in the world I live in.
